Creation vs Evolution:
A Response to Ken Ham and Bill Nye’s Debate

Hello I am Romolo Tschantret:

This is in response to the debate between Ken Ham and Bill Nye. These are some of the answers to the questions that were asked in the debate.

In viewing the creation versus evolution conversation, I have to say it was very interesting.

(1) It's hard for me to understand how someone can go into a debate without looking
      into the information of what they are debating, as I have observed with Bill Nye.   
      When debating creation, knowing that Ken Ham would be using the Bible as a
      reference for creation, Bill did not look into the Bible or other references of what Ken
      Ham was talking about.
(2) For Ken Ham, it is nice that you have taken the time out to read the most important  
      book in life, a book that is truly inspired by God. There is one aspect in your talk that
      was incorrect that pertains to this conversation.
(3) I truly hope that my response about what the Bible actually says will help you close
      the gap between both Bill Nye and Ken Ham!

In their debate, Bill Nye was looking for answers to these questions from the Bible!

(1) To prove how long the Earth was around (by the Bible).
(2) To prove that Noah's Ark is real and how the animals on Noah's Ark got around the  
      world.
(3) Where did we come from?
(4) What happens to the people that did not have the opportunity to learn about the
      Bible?
(5) What has the Bible predicted that has come true?


***Answers for Bill Nye 1st question.

(1) One thing that needs to be understood is that the Bible is not a scientific book. But,
      when it talks about anything regarding science, it is correct on the subject.

(Examples)

(Isaiah 40:22) 22 There is One who dwells above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers. He is stretching out the heavens like a fine gauze, And he spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.

(Job 26:7)  7 He is stretching out the north over the empty place, Hanging the earth upon nothing;

(Isaiah 45:18) 18 For this is what Jehovah says, The Creator of the heavens, the true God, The One who formed the earth, its Maker who firmly established it, Who did not create it simply for nothing, but formed it to be inhabited: “I am Jehovah, and there is no one else.

(Ecclesiastes 9:5) 5 For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing at all, nor do they have any more reward, because all memory of them is forgotten. . .


(1A) The main disagreement between Bill Nye and Ken Ham is the timeline of when
          Earth was created. Unfortunately, Ken Ham has misinterpreted the Scriptures;
          confusing how long mankind has been around with the creation of Earth by   
          putting them together. He is correct that man has been around for 6000 years, but   
          incorrect in saying that the Bible states that the Earth has been around for just
          6000 years.
(1B) This will explain in detail that the Earth is much older than 6000 years. By how the   
          Bible helps us to understand how God views time. In Genesis, it states the   
          sequence of events in creating the Earth.
             (a) On the first day God made a separation between the waters of the earth.
             (b) On the second day he created dry land and all the grass and plants for food.
             (c) On the third day he made a separation from night and day.
             (d) On the fourth day, it states that God created all the living creatures in the
                    water, and all the flying creatures in the air all according to their kind.
             (e) On the fifth day, God produced all the domestic animals and creeping   
                    animals and the wild animals on the Earth according to their kind then God  
                    created man in his image.

This is the genesis account, now let us look at how God views time to understand that the Earth is older then 6,000 years.

(2 Peter 3:8) 8 However, do not let this escape your notice, beloved ones, that one day is with Jehovah as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day.

(Psalm 90:4)  4 For a thousand years are in your eyes just as yesterday when it is past, Just as a watch during the night.

As we can see here, that time is not established to God as a specific timeline of a day meaning a 24 hours of a period of time. And it does not specify that it even means 1,000 years per day as is mentioned in the Scriptures that one day is (as 1,000 years) the timeline can mean millions and even billions of years. There is no specified time for a day. In Genesis, a day signifies when a task is completed regardless of the period of time.

This Scripture below helps us to see that this point is accurate. The Genesis account goes up to the sixth day and then in Exodus we see that it speaks of the seventh day that God rested.

(Exodus 31:17) 17 It is an enduring sign between me and the people of Israel, for in six days Jehovah made the heavens and the earth and on the seventh day he rested and refreshed himself.’”

As we can see here in John 5;17 that we are still living in the sixth day which is more than 6000 years ago because Jehovah has not rested yet.

(John 5:17) 17 But he answered them: “My Father has kept working until now, and I keep working.”

So, as Ken Ham stated man has been around for 6,000 years, which is correct, but as Bill Nye stated it would be impossible for these animals and other fossil evidence to be under the 6,000 year mark, which is also correct. And the Bible verifies that both of these points are correct. Ken Ham is incorrect when he states that the Earth is only 6,000 years old. God's word the Bible does not teach this.


***Answers for Bill Nye 2nd question.

(2) To prove that Noah's Ark is real and how the animals on Noah's Ark
       got around the world.

Many religions around the world that had no contact with each other speak of a global flood.
You are correct Bill Nye, if you tell a story and the story goes on to many different people, it does get distorted. That is why God had his word written down so there are no distortions.

To me, this is the hardest to believe, that you do not believe or cannot believe in Noah's Ark. To deny the opportunity that Noah's Ark is possible is to say that for some personal reason you do not want to acknowledge that there is a God. And if there is a God, that you have a responsibility to him.

(1) You are a scientist.
(2) You believe in floods.
(3) You believe that animals have the genetic code to produce animals of their kind.
(4) You believe that we have the ability to learn.
(5) You believe in many means of transportation.
(6) You believe that cloning is true.
(7) You believe that agriculture and harvesting at a rapid acceleration is true.
(8) You believe that we have achieved higher technology in the last hundred years than  
      ever before seen.
(9) You believe that we have built bigger boats then Noah's Ark.
(10) You believe that we will achieve greater inventive abilities in the future.
(11) You believe that someday we will travel to other planets.

These are just a few things that I know that you believe in. (Just a few things) you continue to state that are things in the Bible that are against the laws of physics. If you yourself were to state the things that you know today to someone from 1,000 years ago, what do you think they would think you were besides crazy? To send an object to the moon, to fly someone through the air a couple of hours to reach another country, to talk to a person on the telephone that is thousands of miles away, to tell him that the Earth has tectonic plates that move, that machines can walk and talk like humans, that you could cut off of persons arm or leg and replace it back. These are just a few things that we do today that would have been impossible, or to the laws of physics as they knew it long ago, impossible to happen.

So, including your own statement that the Earth is about 4 billion years old, and with the belief that the universe is over 12 billion years old, it would be arrogant of you to believe that there is no higher intelligence that could have done the things that are mentioned in the Bible’s account of Noah's Ark.

(1) God could have created a flood worldwide.
(2) God could have instructed Noah how to build a boat to survive the flood.
(3) God could have activated the genome to produce all the species of animals at once.
(4) God could have activated new growth in every plant life at once.
(5) God could have transported all the animals to where ever he wanted to at once.
(6) God could have made the animals nonaggressive or aggressive if he wanted to.
(7) God could have had preserved man alive and fill the Earth.

Not only could God have had all these things happen, but the record shows he did have them happen.

I know for certain that you believe this. Because you believe that man can achieve anything he puts his mind to and he works at it until it works. These things in your mind are not things that are unachievable, but with the right technology they can be achieved. It is not against the laws of physics.


***Answers for Bill Nye 3rd question.

(3) Where do we come from?

This appears to be a very difficult question to be answered by many people, because the answer is so simple that it is difficult to believe. To understand this, we have to see how humans are trying to achieve the feat of creation themselves.

(1) Man is trying to achieve supercomputers that are smarter and smarter.
(2) Man is trying to create robots to look and act like people.
(3) Man is trying to create robots with the capabilities of thinking and learning like  
      humans.  
(4) Man is trying to create robots with emotional capabilities.
(5) Man has been trying to clone people as they do animals.

As Bill Nye mentioned, man continues to progresses with our capacities of using technology. He believes that someday he will achieve the ultimate achievement of creation, human life. So when creating life he makes himself a God. A creator of life himself. The thing that he is denying that exists because he has not achieved it himself  first. In trying to create life we prove to ourselves that we had to have been created. For some reason this makes most scientist feel inferior so they refuse to believe there is a God.

Our genealogy and our genome prove that humans are descendants of one person. This point has been proven by scientists over and over again. And you know this to be true, Bill Nye. The evidence of skulls that you have presented in no way is proof of evolution. There are so many deformities in humanity that it is easily explained why skulls are distorted. There is no carbon dating proven that man existed longer than 6,000 years.

(4) What happens to the people that did not have
       the opportunity to learn about the Bible?

Do you think that it is fair to punish an individual or a group of people for something they did if they didn't understand or were never taught that it was wrong? I have to say that I believe your answer would be as my answer would be, no. So let us look at how God views it.

(1) (1 John 4:7-10) 7 Beloved ones, let us continue loving one another, because love is from God, and everyone who loves has been born from God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love has not come to know God, because God is love. 9 By this the love of God was revealed in our case, that God sent his only-begotten Son into the world so that we might gain life through him. 10 The love is in this respect, not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a propitiatory sacrifice for our sins.

(2) (Job 34:12) 12 For a certainty, God does not act wickedly; The Almighty does not pervert justice.

(3)  (Psalm 99:4) He is a mighty king who loves justice. You have firmly established what is upright. You have brought about justice and righteousness in Jacob.

(4) (Romans 2:11) For there is no partiality with God.

So we see here what the Scriptures say. That God is love and he has the desire to display justice for all humanity. And how will he accomplished this for the ones that have passed away that did not know him.

(5) (John 5:27-29) . . .. 28 Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.

(6) (Revelation 20:12) And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and scrolls were opened. But another scroll was opened; it is the scroll of life. The dead were judged out of those things written in the scrolls according to their deeds.

So, we see here that God is giving everyone that has passed away and everyone on the Earth today the opportunity to know him and to obey him and to follow him and to benefit from everlasting life on a paradise Earth.

***Answers for Bill Nye 5th question.

(5) What has the Bible predicted that has come true?

As we see today with the growing number of people scattered around the world looking for religions that suit them to their own personal needs, disregarding what is important to God and making up their own laws and justice. This one example will personally affect your understanding of what this statement is talking about. And the Scriptures here will verify that it is true.


(Matthew 24:3-5) 3 While he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples approached him privately, saying: “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your presence and of the conclusion of the system of things?” 4 In answer Jesus said to them: “Look out that nobody misleads you, 5 for many will come on the basis of my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will mislead many.

(Matthew 24: 11)  11 Many false prophets will arise and mislead many;

(Matthew 24:23, 24) 23 “Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look! Here is the Christ,’ or, ‘There!’ do not believe it. 24 For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will perform great signs and wonders so as to mislead, if possible, even the chosen ones. . .

Prediction:

A messiah or Christ (literally, "anointed one")[1] has come to be seen as a savior or liberator of a group of people,

(1) Scientists today in all aspects are promising a better future for mankind. This is not saying that they have not achieved it in some small aspect, benefits to mankind. But in reality they are promising that they will achieve it in the near future,
(a) The end of old age.
(b) The end of sicknesses.
(c) The end of starvation.
(d) The end of natural disasters.
(e) The end of death.
(f) The end of war.
(g) As well as the end of many many other things.

The fact not fiction
The results of the blessings they Scientists claim they have achieved on Earth.
Side effects of their achievements:

(1) Produced pesticides to pollute our waters and our food and our air.
(2) Continuously claiming to have and will have vaccines to cure all sicknesses.
       (As our hospitals are getting larger and larger every year and more and more
        diseases continue to pop up, and the hospitals continue to maintain full occupancy).
(3) Nuclear energy to protect our country and to supply energy for us to live.
       (There are more nuclear weapons built that can destroy the Earth over 17 times
        and the nuclear chemical plants that are producing energy, some have had
        catastrophic breakdowns. And they continue to dump tons and tons of nuclear
        waste into our oceans and burying them underground).
(4) Destroying natural habitats that are essential for life. For developments and
       agriculture for the mass production of food. (Note: That in time turns the ground
       into desert).
(5) Vehicles that produce massive amount of pollution in the air.
      (Had technology for noncombustible transportation for over 80 years).
(6) The thousands of medications that have been developed that have given
       people so many side effects and deformities, and kill many others.

These are just a few trillion dollar endeavors that have paid off with the aid of scientists cooperation and delegation and inspiration and manipulation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They continue to cover up what they are doing by telling the public that they are working hard at keeping up with the growing population at hand.

As you come to glorify some of your gods and messiahs:
Anaximander,    
Plato,
Aristotle,
Leonardo da Vinci,
Galileo Galileo,
Archimedes,
Isaac Newton,
Albert Einstein,
Charles Darwin,    
Louis Pasteur,
Stephen Hawking

And someday hope to become one of them yourself only magnifies that God's word is the truth.
This is truly one aspect of a Christ that is mentioned in the Bible in Matthew 24 that has come true. And this is just one prophecy or as you mentioned Bill Nye prediction that has come true.
Another is this.

(Matthew 24:14) 14 And this good news of the Kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

(Matthew 28:19, 20) Go, therefore, and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you. And look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.”
(Mark 13:10) Also, in all the nations, the good news has to be preached first.

The Bible is the number one book in the world.
The Bible is the number one translated book in the world.
The Bible is the number one book that is believed to be from God.
The Bible is the number one book that people long to understand.
The Bible is the number one book people look for guidance from.

These are just a few things that the Bible is number one in. examples of other predictions or prophecies that have been fulfilled.

What the Bible says on the subject

(1) To prove how old Earth is.
(2) To prove how the carbon dating proves that the Earth was more than 9 million years
       old.
(3) How the animals happened to be under tons of rock debris and in fossils?

Taking the time to analyze what I told Bill Nye, about what the Bible says, should help you understand that the world is much older then you stated, that the Bible stated it is, Which is 6,000 years old. So that should help you to understand why animals are in fossils rocks. I do know that carbon dating is not 100% correct. But in analyzing the Scriptures the Earth has to be older than and possibly as old as Bill Nye stated.

I do appreciate the fact that you pointed out, without God there is no structure in the world, as we see it today. Also in fact the Bible does have as you have mentioned, many examples of predictions of how the world has turned out and  will turned out. By prophecies from the Greek Scriptures to Hebrew Scriptures. That means from Genesis to Revelation, the Bible is always correct. Unfortunately sometimes man has interpreted it incorrectly.
(2 Timothy 3:16) 16 All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness,

You have mentioned several times,
(John 3:36) 36 The one who exercises faith in the Son has everlasting life; the one who disobeys the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains upon him.

Unfortunately a couple of times you have stated your own personal views about how Scripture is interpreted. Nowhere in the Scriptures does it mention if you believe that the Earth is millions of years old then you would be condemned to everlasting death. Also, you reference several other things that were incorrect which would only make this part of the conversation a discussion on which interpretation is correct. And that is not what I wish to get into with you. (Romans 10:2, 3) 2 For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to accurate knowledge. 3 For because of not knowing the righteousness of God but seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.


Sometimes when we are so adamant in proving our point even though we know for a fact that it is incorrect we lose the humility to admit that we are wrong. And when it's so obvious we made people believe, that it is not us that is incorrect but God's word the Bible. And this is why so many people have lost trust in God's word. So it is imperative to correct our misunderstandings and admit them so that people can see that it was you that had the misunderstanding of what the Bible says, not that the Bible is incorrect.
